Catching up

by

First up, an appology – the SI admin team has been very busy with a number of other things recently, and the blog has been only one of the things that has slipped.

We have some news though, we’re in the process of making the group officially recognised (at least here in the UK) and there will be a committee looking after group business in the near future. Although this won’t make much difference to all our members on a day to day basis, it will improve the behind the scenes organistation, and give the group more structure.

We’ve also noticed a drop in attendance to our Sunday painting sessions. If you’re in the Sheffield area, why not pop down to Patriot Games on a Sunday between 11:00 and 16:00 to get some painting time in? We know it’s been cold there over the winter, but with spring in the air, it’s warming up.

Painting Sessions

If there are any other reasons you’re not showing up anymore, please get in touch, or leave a comment below. If there’s something we can improve on  – let us know! It’s your group too, so let’s make it great together – and, we miss you.

We’ve got some ideas for extra events and interesting things to do this year – like occasional Saturday sessions to encourage new painters to join in;  demonstrations and workshops at various events; cinema trips; and opportunities to meet up with a wider painting communuity.

Oh and don’t forget IMP II (Irregular Miniature Paintfest II),  we’re scheduling a date for the summer to have yet another awesome painting event day in Sheffield. The Golden Imp awards and the speed painting competition will be making a welcome return, al0ng with lots more fun and interesting things to do.

IMP II is open to painters from anywhere – not just Sheffield, and it’s well worth the trip according to those who came from far and wide last summer.

Triples

Our next event is Triples, in Sheffield on April 17th and 18th at the Institute for Sport. The group is manning the Old Glory Speed Painting event on both days, and manpower is definitely needed. If you’re free on either day (or both), please get in touch with us tomake arrangements. Triples is probably the best gaming show in the North, and will feature a grand array of traders, as well as a Medieval combat competition – quite unlike the usual re-enactment events.

Coming up

We’re hoping to get ourselves back on track and super organised as soon as possible, and hope that you’ll join us.

Sheffield Irregulars is not just for those in Sheffield – in fact our national and international membership far exceeds our local one. We think of you ALL as members equally and want to see you all involved in your hobby, and encouraging others.

We’ll be looking for people to send in photos for our table display for this year soon – so if you’re not able to attend any of our events, you can still be part of our miniature display in a printed format. These have always gone down well at shows.  We’ll be posting about this in the not too distant future, so keep an eye out, and have a think about what piece you’ d like to have included.

Remember, if there’s anything you want to see, or get the group to do, or you think needs to change – get in touch.
