SI meet up at Games Day

October 2, 2009

At Games Day UK this year we arranged for a quick Sheffield Irregulars meet up, and a good bunch showed up for it. If you didn’t – grrr….

It was nice to shake hands with some folk we’ve only spoken to online before.

The group photo was taken by Paul Edeson and we’re very grateful to him for taking it.

One week to go

September 20, 2009

Games Day UK 09 is only 1 week away now – and if you’re anything like me you’re still working on your Golden Demon entry.

The big painters meet up on the day will be held at the Crowne Plaza hotel from 12:00 till 15:00, but we have planned for a Sheffield Irregulars meet up at 12:30, at the Golden Demon repair table.

It’d be great to meet up with members from all over, and hopefully there will be a photo op.

Anyone wanting to head over to the painters meet up afterwards will be very welcome – but if you just want to enjoy the day in NEC itself, go right ahead and enjoy yourself.

If you spot anyone in a Sheffield Irregulars/Irregular Magazine sweater or t-shirt on the day, be sure to stop and say hi.

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone, seeing your entries for the painting competition, and looking at your photos of the day afterwards 🙂

We’re planning to try to Tweet the results of the Golden Demon awards – but this depends on how fast I can text on the day. So if you’re not attending, make sure you’re following us on Twitter: We plan to use the hash tag #GDUK09 wherever possible, and if you’re tweeting too – use it as well, so we can find out about your day as well.

Games Day Toronto 09

June 26, 2009

Canadian  SI member Alex Good reports back from the day:

Well, I attended GamesDay Toronto today and the event was pretty good, clearly the reccession had an effect on the quality of the event but overall, not bad. Golden Demon models were amazing and lts of good entries but due to weather the event had a low turn out and that also affected the amount of GD entries, there were less then last years GD. Compared to last years event it was no where even close. The events were smaller and this resulted to you waiting in lines after signing up killing your day. I chose to not take part in any of the events and pay more attention to talking with other painters and those alike. There was alot special guests and a pleasure to met Dan Abnett and had him sign of his books for me. Also there was a blister grab off $5 a piece no matter what and they had everyone crowd around a table and throw the blister into the middle of the table over our heads. It was like starving prisoner fighting over pieces of bread, quite a funny site.
Event Overall – B+
