Out and about

November 16, 2010

It’s been a busy few weeks, first there was Fiasco in Leeds, then Warheads painting day in Sheffield, and this weekend it’s the Platoon Britannica Yorkshire Regiment meet up. What a whirlwind!

Yorkshire Painters meetup

November 28, 2009

Tomorrow (Sunday 29th) there is no painting session at Patriot Games in Sheffield – instead we’re off to Leeds to the Owls club in Headingly.

Platoon Britannica members in Yorkshire have organised a meet up and painting session for local painters/PB members. The Sheffield Irregulars are travelling over in style in the Pimp Mobile minibus and looking forward to meeting up with some new faces, and saying hello to some friends.

Should be fun, hope you can join us.

We’ll be back at Patriot Games for the usual 11 – 16:00 session next Sunday, 6th December.

Platoon Britannica

June 23, 2009

Still recovering a little from the weekend, where the Platoon Britannica meet up was held at Warhammer World in Nottingham.

This was the 2nd PB meet up and looks set to have a third next year.

Robin and Ben from PB set up the event to encourage the British painting community to support each other and create a real community dimension to the hobby, especially in the competitive field – where this seems to be lacking (Golden Demon in particular).

With painters coming from all over the country, as far away as Scotland for the event it was really a great meeting of talent. Many people had only ‘met’ previously online, so this was a chance to see both the painter, and their models in real life.

What is Rackham style?

May 4, 2009

Further to our early announcement of the June painting challenge, we’ve been asking people what they think Rackham style is.

Rule Britannia!

April 7, 2009

The Rule Britannia painting competition over on the Platoon Britannica forum is running until April 23rd (St Georges day).

  1. Sign up to the Platoon Britannica forum before the deadline.
  2. If you are a Brit, pm Kaine the moderator to get full ‘member’ status.
  3. If you’re not a Brit you can enter the ‘Johnny Foreigner’ category instead. (see below)
  4. Entries must be either a single model or a diorama consisting of no more than 2 minis mounted on the same base.
  5. Submit your entry in picture form with your username to a thread (on the PB site) which will be open close to the deadline.
  6. Take part in the judging – all those signed up to the PB site can vote.

There are no scale or base size restrictions but each entry must have a distinctly “British” theme. (This could mean historical figures, vehicles etc or could be a British influence in a fantasy setting. As long as it looks British then it’s a viable entry.)
